Rear door wind noise seals
By Todd Zabbia
This mod is for any and all 2001- 2003 ST With wind noise.
I am giving this project 2 wrenches, because if you go a certain way you will need to drill your door and that can be tricky. IF you go the 3M tape way it is a 1 wrench project. This was done on my 2003 ST. This project Is installing the wind noise seals on your back doors, to eliminate the wind noise.
Ok tools needed are : small piece of sand paper
Alcohol prep pad or rubbing alcohol
Scissor
1 package of 3M double sided tape
Optional Drill
Part Numbers are : 4L2Z 26247A50 AA and 4L2Z 26247A51 AA
This is the space in the doors. This is what the seal looks like

First start by removing the Little tree fasteners. Be careful you might need them later if you are going to drill your door. Here they are removed ..

Ok Next was to choose if you are going to drill the holes to re use the fasteners, or the tape. If you drill holes, Mock up the gasket and mark the door with marker an drill the holes.
If you look closely the Blue dots are the marked holes.. Drill your holes and then simply install the gasket as noted further in this project.
I opted NOT to drill because the tape holds fine, AND I could not get the drill into the last hole. If using the tape, Take the sand paper and scuff the plastic because it has a coating on it that the tape will not stick to. THEN run the 3M tape along the edge .

It is easier to pull the red backing off JUST an INCH or so. align IT up on the door THEN remove the rest of the tape and install.. THE BIG HOLE goes up top.. Align it up good first before taping.. USE THE ALCOHOL PREP TO CLEAN THE DOOR BEFORE INSTALLING. This will give the tape a clean surface to stick to.

You will see the BIG HOLE in the gasket goes OVER the trim Clip on the top of the door.. PUSH IT good and tight to the door.. NOW if you want to drill the holes later you can because it is lined up and there is no chance of messing it up.. Edit: 1 week later, I was loading stuff into the truck and hit one and it loosened up, SO I drilled the holes the TOP I used a 13/64 drill and the bottom 3, I used 7/32. Then Install the fasteners. ( If used.)
