Making the rear EE sway bar bushings grease able
By Todd Zabbia
This project I am giving 3 wrenches, because if you make a mistake, you will be buying new brackets and bushings. This was done on my 03 ST.
The project should take 45-60 min if installing a new sway bar. If already installed the project should take 20-30 min.
Tools needed are 13mm wrench, 18mm wrench, grease gun with 90 degree adaptor, Drill, tap and die set, or bench vise (depending which fittings you buy).
You can do this project while you are installing your EE rear sway bay, OR even After you have already installed it.
Start by following the EE directions to remove your old sway bar. ( if EE bar is already installed Remove your brackets and bushings that attach to the rear using a 13mm wrench.) Remember the elongated hole goes on top. You need to purchase a tube of lock tight and universal grease fittings. See pic

There are 2 types. Press fit and threaded fit. I went with the press fit due to the low load placed on my application. ( IF YOU are doing off roading or towing I would recommend threading in the grease fittings.) The kit also comes with 90 degree fittings, so you won’t need an adaptor on your grease gun. If installing the EE bar go ahead and install the bar and secure it on the end links and thread on the 18mm nuts to hold it until you finish the next steps. Next locate the center of the rear end brackets.

I used a 7/32 drill bit to drill the hole. NOTE if using threaded fitting use the proper drill bit for the threads you are going to tap. Drill 1 hole in the center of each bracket. Clean and remove any rough spots.
Locate the bushing and note if it has grease channels or not. See pic.

Mark and drill hole through TOP of bushing only. Making sure it lines up with the inside of a grease channel. SEE PIC.

I used the press fit fittings. IF you chose to use the threaded fittings you have to tap the holes to the correct threads. Next using a vise I placed some lock tight on the barbs of the fittings and pressed them into the brackets. DO NOT USE A HAMMER AS YOU WILL DISTROY THE BRACKET AND GREASE FITTING. NOTE make sure you don’t press too hard and BEND the bracket out of shape. IF you do, you have to bend it back or replace the bracket) SEE ABOVE PIC. IF using the threaded type, Tap the holes, place some lock tight on the threads and install the fittings. Grease the bushings and install on the sway bar as per EE directions. I always recommend driving the vehicle around the block and re greasing. Next pic is what the completed project should look like.

ENJOY YOUR NEW EE SWAY BAR, and the accessibility to grease it when it starts to squeak.
