Sport Trac Exhaust Sound Clips

A couple of words about the methodology. The first three clips were taken at the 4/7/01 meet in Allan Vigil Ford parking lot, using a Sony Mavica FD81 recording to MPG format. In each sample, I held the Mavica approximately three feet from the exhaust. To reduce the file size for download speed, the files were converted to WAV format at a 22KB/sec sampling rate ("radio quality").

As you will hear, this was not an ideal environment for capturing the sound. There is considerable background noise from a nearby roadway, conversations, and other vehicles. However, in each clip, the exhaust sound dominates and is representative of the actual sound.

During sampling, both Sean and Ron revved past 3000 rpm and the ST park/rev limiter kicked in, which causes a "chopping" sound in the exhaust note. Rest assured that this sound is due to the computer cutting fuel to the engine, will happen with any exhaust on the ST, and is not representative of what you hear on the highway.
